Well,

As you may or may not know, as ERH software have created 2003 Server Autobuild, i thought it would be a nice little challenge for someone to create 2008 Server Autobuild.

Requirements:

  1. It can use any programming language
  2. It should use as few dependancies\scripts as possible (2003 had 3 scripts and GPMC)
  3. it should containt atleast 2 sites to choose from, and have 2 different configurations depending on what site it is (how you determine the configuration is up to you)
  4. it should also work on Server 2008 Core

Email me with any attempts or questions on where to go for certain things, there ARE code\program differences between 2003 and 2008 so 2003 autobuild may not be helpful.

Look forward to seeing some tests.

Cheers

Andrew

A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

It's kind of fun to do the impossible.

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.

Windows is a 32-bit extension to a 16-bit graphical shell for an 8-bit operating system originally coded for a 4-bit microprocessor by a 2-bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

here is a basic autobuild for 2008, still needs a lot of work, any helpful hints or code would be nice

it has yet to cover:
importing/creating group policy objects
enableing RDC
Configure windows update (may be changed to WSUS in future)
file share permissions

other areas that may need focus:
setting ipaddress on NIC
schools that cover extended year groups eg. k-10, or 7-12
having issues with the dhcp server install on core
script doesnt run automaticaly at logon to core

WARNING: This script is not ready for a production environment

useage:
extract all files to the same location
run autobuild.bat
enter password, school code, ipaddress, and functional level

once its complete you will need to logon with the username stuadmin and whatever password you set at the begining of the script

ok, i have figured out why the dhcp server fails on core, on the core edition of server the dhcp server is called "DHCPServerCore" on full it is called "DHCPServer", we need some code that determines which version of server your running
